Accurate health facility data is a critical resource for health system functions. Everything from routine reporting to emergency services, accurate health facility data will drive how national health ministries, international institutions, and private companies provide a highly functioning health system. Service availability planning, health commodity supply chain management, and health workforce planning all rely on high quality and detailed information about health facility locations. The challenge is the data is frequently inaccurate, outdated, duplicated, incomplete, and not made available in open and accessible methods.
Our objective is to take the success of OpenStreetMap validation techniques, build on the Human Centered Design approach Healthsites.io launched in February 2022, and provide an innovative method for reducing costs and improving speed for validating and sharing health facility locations.
