Equity and Inclusion – with people at the centre
Digital health solutions are often developed in an agnostic manner and do not take into account wider social determinants that marginalise and exclude certain populations, and limit their access to digital health services either due to cost, connectivity or digital literacy. These social determinants are reflected in the adoption and use of digital solutions within the health system, where services in rural and marginalised areas are often least digitally connected. To address this digital solutions need to be developed with the active participation of end users. Patients and more broadly the general population, need to be aware of the changes taking place across the health systems as it digitises and needs to be involved in the development of legislation, regulation
